During recent years, number of attacks on networks has intensely increased. Hence interest in network intrusion detection has increased among the researchers. This study assesses different kinds of IDS and inclines preemptive procedures. An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is used to automate the intrusion detection process. An Intrusion Deterrence System (IPS) is software which has complete competencies of an intrusion detection system and it can endeavor to stop probable events.
