World practice of sustainable development in regard to industrial enterprises and modern theoretical and empirical concepts are investigated which tie-up sustainable development of industrial enterprises to their innovation activity. The result of this study is limited practice-oriented concept of complex character which allows to conclude that the level of innovation activity of an industrial enterprise directly depends on the level of its functioning and development.
